Madhab Das
Madhab Das, an artist from Assam, studied Sculpture at the College of Art, New Delhi. Madhab’s work revolves around the human condition as a central idea. He pushes the boundary of Sculpture as a medium by coercing opposing materials to coexist, to create new meanings. In his works, the material bears witness to the conceptual changes that consolidate materiality as an idea. His practice underlines the intersection of drawing and sculpting, stillness and motion, the functional and non-functional to reflect the constant opposition of elements. Madhab lives and works in New Delhi.
He has participated in various exhibitions in India Habitat Centre, Lalit Kala Academy, India International Centre, All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society, Dhoomimal Art Gallery, Art Centrix Space, etc. Madhab received prestigious awards, including the National Academy Award and Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture.
